excellent piece of content that talks over simple fun life from a new
perspective. Today’s find is titled What planet or planets are only visible during the day? .
Question by Patriot2008: What planet or planets are only visible during the day?
Hey everyone,
I really need to figure out the answer to this question. It has been messing with my head for days. The person who asked me provided the following hints:
“There are two other planets (I knew Venus was the third), however, which are only visible during the day. One of those planets hugs the sun very closely right now, but would be visible to the unaided eye if the Sun weren’t so close by; the other planet is a little further from the sun, but still close, and would require a telescope to see.”
Thanks!

Venus is visible during the day, but only under certain conditions -

Mercury can be seen, just after sunset, but it can be very close to the horizon.
Otherwise, you do need a telescope. With my 8″ and 11″ SCT, I have seen the following planets -
Venus
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
I have attempted Mercury, but at the time it was way to close to the sun to be viewed safely directly (without a solar filter).
Don’t expect any great detail of course, the sunlight swamps that out with Raleigh scattering. Just a cool thing to do.

Somebody else posted this question a couple of days ago. The question is WRONG! There are no planets that are only visible during the day. Probably the answer they’re looking for is “Mercury,” but that is NOT correct. “The day” is defined as being the time from sunrise to sunset, and Mercury is frequently visible just before sunrise or just after sunset.
Whoever made up this question obviously never observed the planets! I have seen Mercury naked eye many times during morning and evening twilight, which is NOT part of the day.
Please tell your teacher (or whoever asked you this question) to delete this question and report it to the publisher of the book. All it does is confuse students like yourself.
